Chair's Letter | Role Brief

Research

Move evidence into accountable institutional practice

The Challenge

What this role is up against

Research is essential to trustworthy technology, but the path from evidence to deployment crosses multiple organizational boundaries.

A finding can be scientifically sound and still be operationally incomplete if an institution has not determined how it changes engineering requirements, clinical workflows, cybersecurity controls, governance obligations, or monitoring.

TTIC's Role

Where TTIC connects

TTIC works at that translation layer.

The Objective

What success looks like

For researchers, the opportunity is to connect rigorous evidence with the institutional mechanisms required to use it responsibly. That includes clearer assumptions, reproducible methods where appropriate, explicit limitations, defined intended use, and communication that allows operators and decision-makers to understand what the evidence does and does not support.

The goal is not to turn researchers into operators. It is to prevent valuable evidence from being weakened or misapplied as it moves into real systems.
